AixBOMS Configuration Management: software for IT documentation and infrastructure management
Configuration management according to ITIL
The de facto standard ITIL and the configuration management process described there set the standard for consolidated IT infrastructure management. It is not only the archiving of IT inventory data in a so-called CMDB or a CMS that plays a role, but rather their efficient use for the tasks of configuration management. This poses a particular challenge for the consolidation of technical and non-technical information such as commercial data, service structure data and master data, which in turn goes hand in hand with further requirements such as openness to future extensions and ensuring a broad, consistent database.AixBOMS Configuration Management is a tried-and-tested, self-contained, and out-of-the-box application developed according to the latest software standards. Its Advanced CMDB technology with over 200 preconfigured CI classes provides an open data model with sophisticated plausibility mechanisms (business rules). This is supplemented by the flexible creation of data structures in real time using so-called “Flex Objects”.
Ergonomic user interface for the convenient management of configuration items
Using modern ergonomic user interface technologies (browser, Java), sophisticated detail and integration data, as well as enrichment data, such as master data, can be used in mask sets or in fully automatic viewers or editors for graphic visualization and editing. A uniform architecture and modeling allows the seamless integration of peripheral systems with the AixBOMS integration engine, process integration via workflow control, or abstraction and evaluation via the system's own reporting and dashboard mechanism (BIRT).Application-optimized editors, wizards and clear dashboards
In addition, AixBOMS Configuration Management offers a customer-friendly integration interface and workflows for various management areas in accordance with ITIL. It provides graphical views and editors that visualize the relationships among the data, support the construction of complex structures and enable them to be used efficiently for everyday tasks. These visualization and editing options, as well as the technical level of detail, are the advantages of conventional configuration management systems.Highlights
